Hi, my name is ashley, I'm going through the first stages of the RNY. Getting a little nervous but I know it will be worth it. I'm 22 and everyone i,know who has had the surgery is older. So I don't really have anyone who understands right now. Feel free to message me it would be awesome to have a buddy's who's in the same spot I am in this.

I know kinda weird being so your for this I met with the surgeon on Thursday and the nurse came in and goes awh your just a baby. I was just thinking I don't know how to take that lol. And no, no date yet. Insurance hoops, and such. I hope I get it soon Idk if I will have to meet with the surgeon again or what before they decide when I can have it. I'm getting anxious to just have a day to look forward too. Looking forward to my new life.

Hello Ashley. I'm Abby, I'm 23. My surgery date is August 17 (only one week away now!) Feel free to message me and friend me, I think it could be really helpful to talk to someone who is my age and going through this. Have you got a date yet? Or what stage of the process are you in? I'm currently on the liquid/protein bar pre-op diet. :)

The diet is way, way easier than I thought it was going to be. The first day was weird, like I would be mentally planning for dinner and then remember... oh yeah, I'm having a Protein shake. XD Now it's just normal, and my body is used to it pretty quickly. It helps that the shakes I'm having and the Protein Bars have a TON of Protein and that really helps your body to feel satiated for longer. My daily diet looks like this and will until saturday:

(x1) Ensure Active High Protein Shake - 160 cal, 16 g protein, 4g sugar, 2g fat.

(x1) Met Rx Protein plus bar - 310 cal, 32 g protein (I know, holy shit so much protein XD) 1g sugar, 10g fat

(x2) Ensure Light nutrition shake - 70 cal, 12g protein, 0g sugar, 2g fat

and however much Water, Swanson chicken broth, and tea I want/can drink. The chicken broth is a bit high in sodium but super low cal, so I don't drink a ton of the broth but it's nice to have something salty/savory to offset the sweet taste of the Protein Shakes and bars. And of course I put lemon juice in my tea. All in all, much simpler and more filling than I thought it would be. :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
