Struggling with liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 9 of the liquid diet and I'm hungry, exhausted, moody and I don't want to do anything. Also, tired of the same drinks. My husband is very supportive but he just doesn't understand how I'm feeling. Does that make sense?

Of course it makes sense. It sounds reasonable to me. I start next Wednesday and am already feeling a bit "off" from the way I am eating now (very little in preparation). It's frustrating, I'm hungry, I want something yummy.

I'm researching different types of drinks and can't figure out which one(s) to get. My Nut is supposed to call me before next Wednesday but I need to be ordering something soon so I called and left a message for her.

Headache also - hungry - sucks.

@@kashco it def makes sense. This is a drastic change to your intake. Just keep your eyes on the prize and you will make it. Add free foods if you are allowed by your NUT. Ask what you can have such as sf Jello or broth. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I can have broth and sugar free Jello. The lack of carbs and no caffeine definitely produces a killer headache!

Just remember, the liquid diet is probably the hardest part of this whole process. If only I could transfer what it feels like to be on the other side to you, you'd look forward to everyone of those shakes! :-P

Hang in there, in 6 months, you are going to look back and see that it was so worth it!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
