Hi out there,

I had my band to sleeve revision on May 29th. I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm on pureed foods, trying hard to get my liquids in, and feeling full. I'm very happy with my decision to go ahead and do the revision.

My main concern is that I still have a lump where my port was "dug out" and there's another lump near the incision where my stomach was taken out. You can't see the lumps, but feel them. I think I still look kindov pregnant or something. Is that normal? I'm walking and don't seem to be having gas issues. Sometimes I'll get a sharp pain in those areas (of the lumps) when I move a certain way or roll onto my side when sleeping. Is this normal? I have a clinic-1 month follow up- appt. on Friday and I'll ask. I don't have a fever or any drainage from the incisions...everything looks healed. It just bothers me that these lumps are there. Do you think they could be hematomas from surgery and if so...will they go away or does the surgeon have to drain them? Ugh.

Thanks for any input.

You are still healing at this point so I would just let them take a look at them at your post-op.

That's probably a seroma where the port was. Its a buildup of Fluid under the skin at the site of the incision. They typically go away with time. Just keep an eye on it because there is a risk of infection. If it gets very painful or if it feels hot to the touch or looks suddenly red, call your doctor.

I had a would vac where my port was to keep down the chances of infection, but now I'll have a nice scar there. Oh well.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
