On my surgeon's plan it would be a no go because of the carbs. Sometimes its funny how random foods I used to eat pop in my head. Was Kix in your normal rotation before or did the craving come from nowhere?

At 16 days, I was just starting soft food. That means foods with a soft texture that will stay on a spoon, but just barely. Kix would not be it. Plus, I agree about the carbs....they can really slow your roll.

I'm on pureed, and runny oatmeal is an option. Would that be an acceptable substitute? I had some for Breakfast earlier this week. Could only eat a few bites, but it was nice to "chew".

I found I was lactose intolerant afterwards and if you are referring to eating traditional cereal with milk, that's having Fluid with your meal and it was a total disaster when I tried.

I'm 11 months out and cereal to this day is not a go to craving for all of the above reasons.

I agree with the posters above, 16 days is too soon!!!

Okay - got to ask, exactly what nutritional value will you gain and retain from Kix??

Sugar cravings are hard, and unfortunately for many of us, feeding that craving only makes us crave more. Go for nutritionally dense foods, and cut out all the empty calories you can.

I don't know what surgery you had, but I haven't heard of any of them advising eating foods like that, but rather the less processed ones that are lower in carbs and higher in Protein. Sorry to be the wet blanket here, but at 16 days out it's a great time to cement those better eating habits. Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
