I must confess since starting this journey I am afraid to eat carb rich foods, which includes fruit. I feel like a crazy person avoiding fruits. Someone offered me strawberries and the first thing I thought is I can't afford the carbs.

Am I right in my thinking? Or am I going overboard? What fruits are you eating? Are there good fruits and fruits I should avoid?

I meet with my Nut next week but would love to hear what others are doing... I'm 3 months post op.

I am one month post op so still don't have a lot of room for much but Protein but I still try to get some vegetables and fruit in every day. My NUT doesn't discourage all carbs. She encourages a balanced plan.

Fresh fruit should be fine in moderation. I still can't do fresh strawberries because of the seeds but am looking forward to being able to have some this summer.

My personal opinion: you can't go wrong with some fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables as long as you get in your Protein.< /p>

My nutritionist said that fruit is phase 4 and fruit should be freshly peeled. Not canned. She recommended peaches, pears, apples to start with

The plan from my dietitian seems to have a very different focus to what I'm seeing on here. I don't have this overhanging push to smash the Protein. Yes, they want me to eat Protein where possible, but there is a much greater focus on a balanced diet as long as the foods I eat have nutritional value.

Some fruits, especially things like berries, are jam packed with Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other good stuff while also being quite low carb. I believe its so much better to get Vitamins and minerals from the fruit and veg you eat rather than from a tablet.

I eat strawberries like there is no tomorrow. I keep sliced fruit around me in the afternoons while at my desk to keep me from reaching for chocolate or other high carb foods. I'm of the camp that yes eat Protein as much s you can but balance it. A typical lunch for me is 2-3 oz grilled chicken, a very small salad and a strawberry or bit of pineapple. I am avoiding complex carbs but not nature's little gifts. And I'm losing about 20 lbs a month.

I tried to eat a healthy, balanced diet from the get go. Besides eating plenty of Protein and veggies, I was putting soft fruits like peaches, mangos and bananas in my Protein shakes starting the 2nd week postop. Since artificial sweeteners hurt my sleeve I was using pureed fruit to flavor my plain Greek yogurt.

I was OK'd for seeds and skins at 3 months postop and started adding berries to my smoothies and I had 1/4 apple with Peanut Butter as a snack several times/week. I put craisins in my mixed nuts which I. snack on everyday. In the summer, frozen pineapple, frozen melon chunks and frozen orange segments are a favorite.

All that fruit and I still passed goal at 7 months and have maintained 10 pounds below goal for over 9 months. I still shoot for a healthy, balanced diet of Protein, veggies, fruit, whole grains and plenty of Water. I must be getting good nutrition because I only take a 1/2 dose of a whole food based Multivitamin, some extra Vitamin D and B12 and my bloodwork is perfect.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
