Any Banders In Their 20s's????

Recommended Posts

Have y'all noticed that lots of folks write that they wish they had done it sooner?

Not to mention, so many people say "it's much harder to lose weight when you're older." Well heck! I'd rather get a grip on it now.

I'm 29 and considering lapband. Ok, fine. I'll be 30 in 2 months. But still in my 20's for now!!!

I was just banded on Tue.6/19/07 I am 29

I know I am one of the younger ones at my docs also I feel the younger the better the less years your body will hav ethe extra weight.

I am in a lot of pain as of today just one and a half days afetr my banding

I am sure it gets better

Good luck to you

I know my doctor has several younger patients, including myself...he has many patients who are in their 30s-50s also, but he told me he has quite a few banders who are 18 - 25. Apparently more and more adults are trying to get it done while they are still in their " youth " to say the least. I know I was...I didnt wanna have to be 35, 40 dealing with this weight issue.

how long were you in pain from the cuts

They say the port point may be unfortable for 6-8 weeks that is ok as long as it is better than I have been dealing with

Im 29, Yes I am claiming the 20's as long as possible. I will be banded 07-09. I decided to get banded because I didnt want to get any bigger and I cant uses baby fat as an excuse. I do not have any children and I cant imagine how I would look if I was any bigger then what I am if I was to have a family because I do want a child one day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
