Pre op weight goal met but will I still get denied?

Recommended Posts

I did the Psych eval last month and I made the pre op weight but when the psych found out that my wedding was a week later he said to hold off on the case manager appointment for two weeks (a week after the wedding). I got married, gained some and then lost it (I'm currently at the same pre op weight) but the psych kinda asked why I haven't lost any weight from my initial meeting with him. :( He told me to give him my food diary and I sent it to him... but he's out of office 'till Wednesday so I wont know anything until then...

Do you think they'll deny my surgery?

It all depends on if the psych clears you or not. It is totally normal to gain a few pounds after your wedding. Its great to lose it again. I gained around the holidays, but then lost it right after and I only gained a few pounds. My doctor told me that it was ok. He said he even gained a few pounds around the holidays. You were also dealing with stress and if you traveled that would play a part as well. Hopefully you get approved. The psych could require you to go to counseling sessions before approval though. My surgeon recommends to go to the psych visit as soon as possible because that is where people are likely to get caught up.

What did you tell him about why your didn't lose any weight?

I'll share what happened to me..my psych added a comment at bottom of my release paper and just made a note that I "seemed" a little down at last visit which was 2 months before my surgery..so when the nurse called me and said that she told me IF she was to submit that release like that it would no doubt be denied do as soon as I hung up from her I immediately called and got a appointment to go in and talk to her and she did redo the release and I see her every 2 to 3 months still. The psych visits to me are extremely important on this changing behaviour..just sharing . keep us posted..its normal going up and down with stressors..hope things work out!

At my initial appointment I told him about the wedding. I also told him that I had a lot of families visiting from other countries so I've been tasting their home cooked meals (Avoiding rice, noodles, etc..) He also asked for my food journal so I sent him my food journal on myfitnesspal that I've had for over four years (There are a few blank spots... but from the last three months I've been able to update almost every day).

I can only imagine that I'm one of many patients that he has so I don't know if continuously telling him I got married would even matter.

Still waiting for Wednesday (crosses fingers)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
