At a plateau..and it SUCKS.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm just FRUSTRATED as all hell right now, I've hit a plateau. I know what I have to start doing again, the dreaded E word. I'm eating bandster portions and foods, as well as ultra low carb because of diabetes (which is well under control now) so I don't see how I could change my food plan, or possibly eat any less. I have a real hate/hate relationship with exercise, I went like a madwoman after my surgery, but stopped because I got lazy and was still losing without it. I need a swift kick in the arse.

Thanks for listening.

Congratulations on losing so much weight without exercise! I also have not started exercising and really don't want to. I'd rather take a beating than have to exercise. I know I'll eventually have to do it, but a little voice in my head keeps telling me that life is too short to waste time doing things I truly hate. And I mean HATE. Of course, that's probably the same voice that kept encouraging me to eat brownies all the time, thus resulting in my weight problem. So maybe I shouldn't listen to that voice. Sorry I can't give you that kick in the ass you want, but I can sympathize with your abhorrence of exercise.

Thanks Enterprise. I don't 'get' how people exercise for YEARS straight, I hate every second of it and can't wait until it's done. The best time of the day is when I'm done the workout, because it's the absolute LONGEST time from then until my NEXT workout. I always feel so good after, but it's getting my ass motivated to go in the first place that I find difficult. Especially since I'm a full time working mom, one of my kids is a mentally insane 2.5 year old who begs me for my time the minute we walk in the door after work/daycare. I feel guilty leaving the kids after I've been away from them all day, and they know how to push my sympathetic buttons, that's for sure. I wish I could be as compulsive about exercise as I am about food, why can't I think about THAT every minute of the day instead of cupcakes??? See, I'm thinking about them RIGHT NOW!!! SHEESH!!

At least you feel good after you exercise. I feel like crap. Absolutely miserable with every part of my body hurting. And then the next morning, it's even worse. There have been times in my life when I've exercised regularly (5 X a week for a year or longer), and the aches and pains never go away. And it zaps my energy, too. I know people all say exercise will give you more energy, but I've never found that to be true. I have an underactive thyroid, which doesn't respond well to medication, and exercise just depletes what little energy I do have.

And now you have me thinking about cupcakes, too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
