Issues drinking water?

Recommended Posts

I am 8 weeks out and down 48lbs, lately I am having an issue getting all my fluids in because every time I drink, once it hits my stomach I am instantly queasy.

Any idea why this is happening??

I will be two years out in May. I frank my first full bottle (20oz) of Water two days ago without vomiting. It took an hour, but I did it.

I have to add a crystal light pack, a splash of Gatorade, a squeeze of lemonade drops, anything to Water to be able to drink it without being sick.

It totally :thuds: in my stomach.

@@rhondatk - This could be your gallbladder. It's very common to have problems with it after the sleeve. One of the symptoms is nausea. Call your doc.

I agree with the plain water! I have to add lime or lemon too it, and I enjoy the taste I just don't understand why it makes me so queasy.

I had my gallbladder removed years ago, thankfully that will be one issue I don't have to deal with!

Part of me was thinking maybe it's bc my stomach is so empty, that it's Water hitting all my stomach acids and not mixing well... Idk I'm reaching at this point! Lol

Have you tried drinking tepid Water instead of cold? I will get nauseous from time to time (still- 4 months out) and it is usually because my stomach doesn't like cold water yet. It will, in time, I'm told. I also use Water Enhancer drops to help the water go in easier. Good luck to you...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
