Trutay,

We have the surgical centers here in Illinois too, but I guess the bariatric surgeon I chose has it done at the hospital where he also has his office.

Heard from the hospital yesterday....have to be there at 6 a.m. next

Thursday, and surgery will be at 7:30 a.m. Have heard that some people can go home later that day after having early morning surgery....we'll see.

Hope they keep me, I could use the vacation!!!

Trutay,

That was me that said I'm getting my surgery done in Mississauga. I fly in on April 28th and my surgery is on the 29th. I decided to go with SmartShape for my surgery. It's nice to find another Canadian on here. =)

I should also mention guys that I just started my pre-op diet today. Mine is extended because of my BMI and FLS (Fatty liver syndrome) so it's twenty days of nothing but three shakes from minogue medical a day and a max of 250 calories a day of low glycemic veggies.

Surprisingly and to my pleasure, the shake actually tastes better than most meal replacement/protein shakes that I've ever had and anyone can get these from the Minogue Medical website. I've only tried the vanilla, but so far so good in that area.

If anyone has any good vegetable recipes, feel free to share. I'd love to be able to eat my vegetables in different ways so I don't get too sick of them.

Hope everyone is doing good!

Inked,

Good luck with the tree weeks of that diet. Will tell you this from mine, after about 3 days the hunger pangs somewhat subside. Your hungry, but could do without food. Can you eat in between meals? I can have sugar free Jello, broth, and sugar free Popsicles. They help, but then I would rather wait till the next shake at times.

No, no goods echoes for veggies, sorry..

I actually just double checked to see if I could have anything else other than the low glycemic vegetables, smartshape shakes and water............... and I can't. I think it's probably better this way, anyway. Besides, 250 calories worth of vegetables is actually quite a bit. Though I do hope that the hunger goes away after a few days because today, I am pretty hungry.

Ship Missy,

Knew here myself, just had surgery yesterday and might I say, nothing to it. Much lesspain and discomfort thsn I was expecting. I'm doing really well. Going home today, as soon as they get the results of my thyroid blood test, the doctor may want to change the milligrams for that. Also found out I have a heart palpitation problem, so have tohavetheat checked out in a few months or so, or whenever get in to see the cardi. He seems to think it may be connected to the anesthetic, but he would like to make sure.

Welcome aboard and good luck. Your having your lap band surgery the same day as my husband is having his sleeve surgery. Will be thinking of you.

Peggy

Hi! How are you doing since your surgery? I'm in the middle of the two week pre-op and splurged a little tonight. We attended a wedding and I'm sure I went over my calories for dinner. Back to it tomorrow! Hope your husband's surgery goes well.

Hi Missy,

Everything is fine! Feeling much less pain today too. May NOT be taking a pain pill but rather a Tylenol later if needed. Start the puréed food part of my diet today! Was looking so forward to a scrambled egg, but think I will have my cup of Decaf tea or two before eating.....am NOT hungry at all. Will let you know how that goes!

A lot of people fall off the pre op diet, so I've read. I did pretty good, I did sneak a forkful of a dinner I made for my husband, once, but other than that I did good. I'm sure if you resume the diet this week you will be just fine, just be careful! Ed is doing better than I thought he could or WOULD!

He is eating just what he needs too but is sneaking in an extra Protein shake now and then.

Later,

Peggy

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
