I am the day after you...March 13th! I literally feel like throwing up right now, because I have to pay for part of it today (I'm self-pay...yuck!) I just keep questioning if this is the right thing to do. I know I will feel so much better, but I'm so scared of failing and wasting a lot of money! Have you started your pre-op diet yet?

Yes I have started the liquid diet... Today was my 1st day, felt like the last day of my life ???? such a bad day with the hunger pangs and headache... Biggest mistake was to not have Protein shakes!

I say on your liquid diet

Rule 1: must have Protein shake, that's your only source of energy!!!!

It will suffix you and give you strength, I felt pretty much wasted without the Protein Shake.

I m glad day one is over, hopefully day 2 should put me in better perspective.

Yes, the thought???? am I doing the right thing or not.... ????????

Yes, I had my surgery on the 19th. Best decision I've made in years.

So glad to have someone share the same date as me.... I m getting operated in India and how about you?

If you are in US or UK side, with the time zone difference, I m definitely getting operated before you ????

Scared ???? need to breathe.....!!!!! How you feeling?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
