No Complications

I was wondering is there are people out here that have had the WLS and not had any complications? It just seems that where ever I am...there is always someone talking about the horrible complications they've had or are experiencing. I'm sort of feeling like an island...

Wow...this island is getting full...lol

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and doing great! No complications so far. My pain is finally gone and I'm down 18 pounds since surgery!

@angelinnc32 I'm just 15 days post op but what is this "diet" that you speak of? I really haven't been told what to eat! The docs seem to think I can eat whatever and I'm still going to loose weight. That may be true but they don't know me! I need specifics on what to eat or I can screw this up!

@@angelinnc32,

Did you go thru a program to get the surgery? They should have provided you with all the information. Biggest thing is to stay hydrated and get your Protein in. I suppose right now you can do soft foods. Greek yogurt is good...Cottage cheese...anything high protein, low fat , low carb. Just listen to your stomach. It will let you know when it's full and if something isn't agreeing with you. Check into the other forums that talk about diet. They'll have some great ideas.

I have never had any complications. Sometimes I wonder if it's just me, or did it really work? I'm no longer on insulin since day three post op. Surgery was April 27, 2015, life has changed so much.

Nothing I consider to be a complication here - I'm about 3 1/2 months out, but so far, so good. I picked up an infection in the hospital, but we handled it with meds and it didn't overly complicate my healing process. I followed my surgeon's instructions to the letter and have been RELIGIOUS about taking my vitamins so far. The weeks before and after surgery are tough, but a successful surgery is worth being careful!

day I am 6 most post bypass. Wow can't believe it went so quickly! This is so hard to post because I'm not much if a sharer of my own feelings. I feel amazing, I have always had a great life before surgery.....I just kept gaining and gaining. This surgery has helped to have the confidence that I can lose weight and it will work this time. Thing I miss the most, chugging s glass of water. That's it! Ha

Here is what you want to know, 6 months from surgery date, 322 down to 245 and counting! If your nervous about going through with it, don't be soooo worth it. No problems at all for me!

I am 16 months post-op with no complications.

I had no complications with my surgery or my recovery. I never developed dumping syndrome either. I am 5 1/2 months out and have lost 65lbs since my surgery and 85lbs total since I started my WLS journey. I have had small issues with eating certain foods. Like if I eat anything super sweet I get extremely nauseous. Also I have had issues with eating certain hard fruits and veggies like carrots or apples. They tend to get stuck and I end up throwing them up. I just stay away from those types of food. It's a learning process. Your body is going to change drastically. All you can do is ease yourself into it. Go slow. Only try one new thing at a time. You'll do great!
