Hi All, I am 8 days post-op & still haven't emptied bowels. I have taken Benefibre once since I started pureed foods on Tues but just felt bloated & uncomfortable. Now I feel as though my stomach has hardened & bloated even more. I am having approx. 1.1L Fluid a day which includes 300mls Protein Shake. Dr told me to wait for the 'urge' but thats not happening!!

My question I guess is, should this be taking this long....Help please!!

For me it took about 6 days post op. But i would ask about a fleet enema or dulcolax suppositories, not the most fun but the fleet enema works and you do feel much better afterward.

But ask your doctor first please

I was good and regular. I was sleeved on a Thursday, came home Saturday and had a BM on Monday. However my surgeon is very conservative. I was started on daily stool softners in the hospital and prescribed a 30 day run post-op.

It is not uncommon for people to be constipated post-op. You should be taking the benefiber daily. Some have had to use other things; benefiber, ducolax, prune juice, fresh prunes, exlax, coffee, colace and Smooth Move tea to name just a few. Also make sure you are getting in as much of your fluids as possible. Try to work up to 2L( at least half should be water). It will take time, but Water helps you "go" so getting those fluids up is a good thing. So It may get to the point where you will need to use a suppository or enema.

Oh man I went 2 weeks and it was dizzying. I almost passed out when I finally had a BM. Do the tea, anything. Just get to stay regular!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
