  1. I walk 30-40mins 5 days a week...even when on holidays!! I eat protein 1st...then veggies & then carbs. I generally stay away from bread, pasta & rice or any other foods that are high in carbs/sugar. I only drink water & herbal tea...my only indulgence is a small skim milk flat white daily lol. I also have a protein shake daily. I eat alot of egg, tuna, chicken, fish & red meats....then broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, beans etc. You eventually learn to use alternative ingredients & make different choices. When i snack, its raw nuts, yoghurt & pork crackles ???? Its not as hard as it seems...you'll do fine ☺
  2. I am.6.5mnths post-op & my cravings started about 4-5mnths post-op. I would have a bite of whatever I crave & move on...otherwise I'll binge & spend the day grazing. And I drink water & tea when I crave & have already had my bite. Good luck ????
  3. Yes Its taken me 6mnths to drink & enjoy water again

  6. Hi All, I am 8 days post-op & still haven't emptied bowels. I have taken Benefibre once since I started pureed foods on Tues but just felt bloated & uncomfortable. Now I feel as though my stomach has hardened & bloated even more. I am having approx. 1.1L fluid a day which includes 300mls protein shake. Dr told me to wait for the 'urge' but thats not happening!! My question I guess is, should this be taking this long....Help please!!

  9. Hi...I am a newbie to this website. I live in Syd Australia & last Wed had my gastric sleeve operation by an awesome Dr. After the procedure the Dr informed me that they also took out a hiatus hernia & recovery could take just alittle longer than normal. Although in alittle pain around my stomach & back (gas pains) my biggest problem is my fluid intake. I am finding it very difficult to drink min. 1L of fluid.....I have started my 3 week pureed diet & I am managing 200mls of water (which I find replusive & am very upset by that because I used to drink 2-3L water a day pre-op) a day, alittle jelly, 1 cup of tea (black), half cup of Optifast (meal replacement) & my 3 pureed meals. By bedtime I am forcing myself to drink more fluids to make my 1L min. requirement. Does anyone else have these problems & how are you managing to keep your fluids up?? Suggestions & idea would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ????????
  10. Hi...I am in Australia & I am now on my 2 week pre-op liquid diet which consists of 3 shakes a day, salad with lunch & steamed veggies with dinner. I slowly started the shakes 4 weeks ago...I spent 4 days doing 1 shake per day with 2 high protein, no carb meals, then the next 10 days having 2 shakes & 1 high protein, no carb meal. My 1st 3-4 days were very hard....detoxing consisted of headaches, irritability, constipation etc...but then all of a sudden I felt good. Now that I have started my 3 shakes a day, I don't feel bad at all or hungry! I am still learning to eat when actually hungry & not because my mind is imagining all the foods I LOVE eating..lol!! We here in Australia are recommended to the Optifast product, not sure of you guys have it in the States but it also comes in soups...VLCD plus high in protein! Good Luck & Stay strong!
  11. Hi...I'm a newbie & I'm from Australia. Not sure if thing are done extremely differently from country to country but after my initial consultation with my bariatric surgeon, I was advised to have a sleep test done. I truelly didn't believe that I had sleep apnea....as it turns out, I stop breathing 78 times/hour!!! I cried after my Dr called me to give me my results. I was advised by my surgeon & a respiratory specialist that using a CPAP machine would not only benefit my recovery but also repair my health due to years of lack of oxygen. So I have been using my machine for a week now & its the most rested sleep I have had in a very LONG time. My specialist advised that as I lost weight I would have to have another sleep test to see of any improvement & possibility of no longer requiring the machine. Good Luck & do as the Dr advises!
