Not sure what it's called I call it my pancake flap lol. But the part of your tummy that kind of hangs a little. Does that go away after loosing weight. I had my son 2 years ago and I hate how it looks and when I wear jeans. I'm only 27 do I'm praying my age will help my skin. Anyone with knowledge on this ?

Unfortunately, it's much more likely that it will get worse as you lose weight, not better. It's excess skin, not excess fat. I didn't even carry much of my weight in my stomach (carry it in my hips and thighs) and when I dropped from 270 to 180 "on my own" a few years back, I ended up having a Tummy Tuck to remove that excess skin. I did everything I could to try to help out my skin as I lost weight. I moisturized regularly, I stayed well hydrated, I took supplements, and I was only 31 years old. Genetics plays a part too, so there is a chance you'll get some help in that department, but the truth is, depending on how much excess skin you end up with, there is a limit to how much it can "bounce back" after weight loss (or babies).

Depending on age, weight history and genetics, some people's skin will tighten up to some degree over time after weight loss, but for many, plastic surgery is the only treatment for the lower belly flap. You are so young, you might experience some improvement with exercise over time. After losing more than 100 lbs., I'm definitely planning on a full Tummy Tuck. A panniculectomy (which just takes care of the lower flap) won't do enough for me. But I am much older and have little hope that my skin will shrink significantly.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
