Day 1 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Today starts the first day of my two-week preop liquid diet. I can only have four Protein Shakes per day and can only use Bariatric Advantage. Bariatric advantage Protein is so gross! I am gagging it down. This afternoon I got the worst headache and felt nauseous. How my going to do this for two weeks? When does this get easier?

I was allowed these Isopure (no carb vanilla and very low carb chocolate and strawberry) I have not tried the Bariatric Advantage although it was on the approved list. I wish I would have bought an immersion blender when I started. Lumpy Protein shakes are not so great.

So many of the Protein Shakes are made to help people gain weight and muscle etc. Hang in there. It is just a couple of weeks and it will be so awesome on the other side!

You CAN do this!!!

Today I started my first day of my 3 day pre-op diet. Things went pretty well. I drank a Peanut Butter chocolate Protein Shake for Breakfast, vanilla Protein shale for lunch. I had some chicken broth and sugar free popsicle for snack.

I had a headache for about 4 to 5 hrs. I took some Tylenol for it. Then for dinner I had 2ozs of tuna. I had a pretty good first day and wasnt that hungry. I just hope that Iwil eventually be able to make my protein goal. I had a hard time drinking those two shakes. I just wanted to give up. I would have rather not had anything. They just seemed to thick. I mixed it with 8ozs of fat free milk. Day of surgery will be here before i know.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
