HELP-Family don't want me to succeed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I think I answered you a week or two ago, but please listen now. I too have a bone marrow malignancy and I was a self pay at the age of 57. Since 08/06 I have lost 100 pounds, and my bone marrow is better than ever. My mother gave me a hard time, and my daughter would show me baby food in the super market and make fun of me. DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO> We did for them all these years and now it is OUR TURN>Do not let anyone, anyone talk you out of this. If the doctor says he can do it GO AHEAD. Perhaps, as I have found out, they are jealous and feel threatened by our continued success. I wish you health.

Fran

You are doing this for YOU. If your son and daughter in law never approve of your wishes that is too bad, this is your life! I believe once you have it done and start losing the weight they will love the way you feel about yourself mentally and physically.

Good luck to you, and prayers for your medical conditions. I was banded on May 23rd and feel wonderful.

Another wayt to approach your son is to tell him that up until now you have been open with him about what you are doing in your life but if sharing your life with him is going to cause problems, you'd rather keep it to yourself. Let him know that you've put real thought into this decision, that you believe that going through with this is what you believe will give you your best shot at survival and that having your families support in this decision would mean the world to you.

good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
