Banded yesterday and have developed a new talent!!

Recommended Posts

My surgery was yesterday, and so far so good!! I feel fine, just a little sore. The dr. gave me codein for pain. I took it last night (every 4 hours), but when I got up this morning, I just took liquid tylenol, and it's worked great.

I have to laugh at my stomach though because it is making some VERY interesting noises! I now have a talking stomach! I decided to name it Elliot; affectionately named after that Pasamaquady resident and best friend to Pete (from "Pete's Dragon" for those of you that don't know the movie)!!

Also. . I'd like to give a shout out to the makers of GAS-X! Thanks for making the dissovable tongue strips!! They don't taste bad (unlike the liquid Centrum Silver Muti-vitamin) and they work really well!!! Rock on Gas-X people!! Rock on!

I love the strips, too! MintyFreshness rules! I was banded in Houston on the 31st and doing great, too. I think that there's a whole-lotta-bandin' goin' on in Texas!

I didn't get Codeine, but liquid hydrocodone and it serves the same purpose. At least helps me bend over more easily!

Best wishes to you!!!!!

I need to change my ticker. . .the 16 lb weight loss was from the 2 week pre-op diet! I haven't weighed myself since surgery. I need a new scale at home. . don't trust the one I have.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
