Hello all! I submitted my paperwork on Feb 2 and was approved Feb 3 to remove my lapband and get sleeved! So excited! I'm am an instructional coach at a school and am hoping that the week I have for spring break will be enough to recover. I've been exercising everyday to try to get my body in better shape so I'll recover faster. How long did you take off work??

Congrats! I took off two weeks but had an additional third before I was put back on the schedule. It just depends on how you feel.

Check with your surgeon also. Mine wouldn't clear me for 2 weeks. I thought it would be my choice but it was his. His nurse said that was standard for him.

My dr said 2-4 weeks. I took 3. Depends on job, I sit all day but still took the extra week and glad I did. First day back was today. It's amazing how much a week makes you heal.

I had the surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Wednesday. I'm a RN in the hospital and work 13 hours. The girls I worked with did my lifting for me and it all went good. The first day was a breeze but the next day I woke up and felt like a did a bazillion crunches. I was a bit more tired that shift but made it through fine.

I pretty much used all my paid time off for pre-op appointments/procedures, and I didn't really want to lose any pay. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work half a day that Friday (desk job) then Full time the following week. I was one of the fortunate ones that had no pain though. Best of luck!!!

I initially took two weeks off, then opted to telework for 2. I only took off 1 week and am teleworking for 3. I want to get over the digestive issues (the runs) and be tolerating solid food before I go back.

I am an elementary teacher and I was sleeved last Wednesday and went back to work this Monday. I have no regrets. It has forced me to move around and stay busy and I feel great. I'm so glad I didn't take off more time as an educator you know we don't get many days! One of my closest friends, also a teacher, is getting her sleeve on 3/13, the Friday before spring break.

I'm heading back to work Thursday. 7 days since surgery. I still have gas pain not to bad tho. My job isn't physically I'm my own boss .. So if I start feeling off or out of sorts I will just come home. I guess it depends on you.. I'm not one for sitting still lol .. My gf had 3 weeks off but she needed it so yes it depends on you. Only you know your body ????

I am currently unemployed and planned my surgery to take advantage of some time off before beginning my job search. I am three days out and feel like I could probably go to work (if I had a job!) after a week or so. My question is, how do you deal with having a drain when you return to work? My drain is bulky and shows under my shirt and is constantly pulling down my clothing. Plus, I am terrified of getting it caught on something!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
