I am sorry to hear about the issues some of you have had since the surgery, they will get better.

Today is day 13 from the big day and here is what has taken place of since, hopefully it will be helpful to some. I have been lucky it sounds, I have felt great, other than the expected discomfort for the surgery. I am able to get in my fluids and have had no nausea before or after, they gave me a patch to wear the night prior to surgery and a pill the morning of and it worked for me.

Surgery was late on the Wed the 25th and I weighed in at 315 prior to surgery. I stayed the night and was kept comfortable with meds, given lots, I think 6-7 IV bags of fluids and I was able to get some liquid down by sipping, Crystal light orange was the best choice that helped me. Discharged early 6:00 am the next morning, about 15 hours after surgery. My weight was 324, lots of fluids.

Got home Friday, day 1 and started to sip Water with and without crystal light for the first day. KEEP up on your meds, don’t fall behind, it’s not fun.

Saturday day 2 started some Isopure’s to get Protein in got about 10oz in. Was able to work at sipping fluids all day and also got in about 4oz un-Unjury chicken Soup also.

Sunday day 3, more Isopure, water and added a strawberry-vanilla Premier Protein drink. Was able to finish all of them with about 8 oz Unjury chick soup. Learned small sips, to big and to soon made me uncomfortable.

Day3 – day 8 NO MORE Meds, pain was ok without them. Same thing kept working on the Isopure, water with crystal light and I started making some Protein Shakes with my Nutri-Bullet. Coconut milk or premium Protein Drink, vanilla Greek yogurt, couple scoops of whey powder (Vanilla or strawberry). Sometimes added a 3” piece of a banana to the shakes. I also switched from Unjury to low sodium chicken broth, even some creamed Soups (Butternut squash) with unflavored Protein Powder added in.

Day 9 (last Friday) saw the doc and weighed in for the 1st time and happy to report 300.4, almost took off pants and shirt to get below the 300, but it is the last time I am EVER going to see it so it didn’t matter. Doc says, all is good, pureed food for the next week and then can start to mix in some whole food. So NICE. Can do some light walking but need to give another week and then meet with the fitness and nutritionist to form my plan.

This Easter was Awesome !!!!

I started my day as I do every day now, with a Power Nutri-bullett Protein Shake (Spinach or Kale, yogurt, coco milk light, protein powder 2 scoops, and few blue or straw berries) lunch was some turkey chili I made and then.

I cooked (BBQ & Smoked) for my family as I have done for many years, I LOVE to BBQ and have large gatherings at the house, I saw NO reason to change. I rotisserie cooked a whole turkey on the grill and smoked a ham on the Traeger, man did we have an Easter celebration. I was able to puree some Smoked Ham with a small amount of gravy and later tried the same thing with the turkey, OH MY, so good. The best part was I did I feel left out as I watched everyone enjoy WAY too much food, in fact I felt GREAT eating my ham with a baby spoon and not being able to finish the small portion I made.

I have experienced some pain and discomfort from too big of swallows of liquid or not chewing a few small chunks of sampled turkey well enough, but nothing too bad. To be honest the week of liquid was tough, but worth it, and I would do again only SOONER.

I hope everyone had a great Easter and is feeling a little better each day.

My Fitness Pal is now a habit, sometimes I enter the food before I eat it. It is a great way to keep track of the Proteins I take in, that is my main goal for each day.

I also track but use an app called Lose It...

Thanks! Yes I use fitness pal. I am still trying to navigate through this, and so far it has been pretty easy. I think I overreacted because when I tracked my food it was not a bad choice. I just don't want to let my feelings when I'm stressed determine what I am going to eat. I knew this was a challenge I had before surgery, and this was the first time it showed up since surgery. I will have to keep an eye on it for the rest of my life & that's just the way it is. I think if I had been more prepared (such as had my lunch with me) I wouldn't have considered getting food out. But looking at it today it's ok that I ate that food, it's just the circumstances that I made the decision that upset me. It was just plain soft cooked lean brisket, no sauce. I think the mental change is the hardest part of this. I just want to do everything the right way. I am 100% committed to this process, I am just a worrier.

First check up with my surgeon today and I am a little over 3 weeks out! I am 30lbs down ( had a stall when I started phase 2 diet) and everything went really well! My doctor said I can have coffee again yay! Nut said I'm ready for denser foods. I wonder if anyone else had this issue.....I have had several dizzy or lightheaded spells. My doctor said it was because I am not getting enough sodium & I need to add more salt to my diet. I never would have guessed that! My nut said to start eating deli lunch meat. They also said I should lose 60lbs over the next 2-1/2 months! That seems impossible! I will do my best to make it happen by following the plan & exercising, but it is very hard to imagine that I will lose that much!

@@NewgirlfromMd Awesome! I stalled phase 2 also and was immediately like oh this isn't gonna work either. Started phase 3 today and spent an hour cleaning the yard (an acre) for spring. Hope I'm as lucky like you and we'll watch the numbers drop together!

That's awesome! Glad your energy is so good! I'm really glad I found out what was causing my dizziness & how to fix it. It was really making it hard to be as active as I wanted to be. Yep you are right we are going to watch these numbers drop!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
