Hi, I am a 40 year old male 5 foot 8 inches, currently tipping at 320.. I have tried tons of diets, and I have even went as far as hire a personal trainer. None of which have seemed to pay off... I have a 7 year old son, that I have a hard time keeping up with.

I am also developing health problems due to the weight. I am hypertensive and I have sleep apnea.. Next Wednesday I will be attending a lap band seminar. Hopefully, this is for me. I am excited at the possibility of shedding the extra me that I have grown over the last 15 years...

I just wanted to say howdy...

Hi and welcome. I am fairly new here and in the pre-op process, getting consults and such so that I can get insurance approval. I can honestly say this is the nicest, most helpful lap band group out there and I have learned a ton of information just reading all the post. I have just recently started posting myself.

I understand the problems you are facing and those very problems are why many here have decided on the lap band. Being able to be active with your child is so important as well as all the other health issues.

Good luck in your journey. Hope to hear from you often.

sunny:)

Hey Big,

Your band will get you full. I used to eat one meal a day . 2pm until 2am.

You will be able to share a meal with you son. Can you imagine?

Welcome! :welcome: I am also in the process of getting my paperwork in order, hoping to get insurance approval. I attend a seminar last month and I'm ready to get this show on the road! Maybe it won't be long until we're losers! :bounce:

Thanks for the welcomes and responses. I have so many questions, but I know how forums work. I'm sure all of my questions have been asked and answered a zillion times. I'll do some searches before I go all "hog" wild on the questions...

Hi and welcome. I just went to the information seminar on Tuesday. I liked it because it presented both gastric bypass and the lap band options. We were able to see the pros and cons of both. For me, the lap band seems the route to take. If anyone is in the Michigan area and is interested in getting some really good solid information on these procedures to start, I highly recommend checking out the weight program at Beaumont Hospital.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
