I have been lurking around on this website since 2013. I have found this site to be very informative and at times entertaining , but I thought that rather than watch on the sidelines I would get on board and try to get some support and give some also. I went through the Bariatric process with Kaiser in 2013 and I had a date of 1-6-2014. I did not go through with the surgery, and I regretted that for a while but now in hindsight I know that was a good decision because I had more work I needed to do on myself to get ready for the surgery. In any case I have been through the process a second time now and I am waiting for insurance approval which hopefully should come any day now. Working on a pre op eating program and getting things in order before surgery. I am mom to 2 boys one is 19 and in college the other is a 8 year old Schnauzer.

I look forward to reading more of your inspiring posts, and chatting with you. I will post again when I get my approval and my surgery date.

I went through the Kaiser Options program as well. As much as I am not a fan of Kaiser in general, for their bariatric pre-surgery stuff they are awesome. I hope you got to do the classes...

I hope all goes well with you. Also, keep in mind that at every stage of this journey we all have something to learn from and to teach others so don't be a hesitant to post. Your voice is valuable now, too.

Peace

Hi Kim, don't regret a very important decision that you weren't ready for. But at least you know for sure now and that you are physically and mentally prepared for the procedure. I know Kaiser is excellent insurance and they will cover your surgery. The waiting part suck's lol, but before you know it, it will be over and done and your anxiety will be gone, and the weight will drop every week like mine and most everyone else's has. Keep us posted of your progress please, support as you can see is very important from the beginning to goal!

Glad you aren't "stalking" us anymore ;)

you were "brave" and got out of the cold to come join us in our warm room :)

you were a smart cookie to realize you weren't ready for surgery last year

i think it takes someone strong to put the brakes on anything

especially surgery!!!

now that i have established that you are a smartie pants ;) glad you are here :)

glad you have been coming back and forth gathering information :)

sounds like you are prepared, excited and ready for surgery :)

hope you are approved sooner than later :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
