I had a BMI of 35, so not morbidly obese. But I live in Australia, we actually have a health system that makes sense here. For the time being at least. Its a lot more fair and equitable and no jumping through hoops for insurance companies.

It all depends on your height too. Do you know what yur BMI is?

Anything 35 and over with comorbid conditions should get you approved.

Yes I weigh 217. I am only 5 foot 1 inch with a BMI of 41.6. I also have other cormorbid conditions. The doc. said I meet all of the requrements. What is your BMI? Do you have any other conditions? Good luck, and please keep posting.

I too am 203 and height of 5'4 1/2...not sure if I will qualify but I am so sick of dieting and being over weight. I may not look as obese as some that are more unfortunate than I but I feel every bit of 500 pds mentally than someone that is that weight. I want the Lap band surgery very much and I am checking out prices and places that I could go. This will be a all out of pocket expense as my insurance does not pay for this surgery. If anyone has any suggestions or sites for me to go to please reply or email me. My email is lgr00_00@yahoo.com

Thanks LisaR

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
