I had my gastric bypass surgery on 02/12 and I stayed overnight at the hospital (Emory at John's Creek, GA). The procedure took about 2 hours, then I was in recovery, then eventually taken to my room.

How much is the avg weightloss in the 1st month postop? Especially those of us who were borderline qualifying before surgery. Postop I have lost about 18lbs and am thrilled., I weighed in @182lbs over the weekend. However, my clothes sizes haven't changed since surgery. I'm still wearing a size 18 in jeans. Any thoughts?

My surgeon said between 20-30 pounds first month for me... But my SW was much higher than yours!

I'm only down about 14 or so since surgery, so I'm getting nervous. I haven't lost anything in 3 days now. I told myself that I wouldn't obsess over a number, but after my first post op appointment when the surgeon was insisting on 30 pounds next time I saw her, I'm starting to freak. That's only 3 weeks away to lose another 15 pounds!!!!

Glad to see Crosby home!

And it's March! That means we are all on the losers bench. We did it!!!!!

I can't hardly believe that we did this. Sometimes I want someone to pinch me!

That's exactly how I feel. Ihope everyone keeps posting as we progress.

I think it is hard to compare or even go crazy trying to obtain some number. Botttom line if I stay on track I will lose. I was surprised when I got home and found I had not gained or still retained weight gain fron surgery. I only lost 13 net pre surgery.

Also going to get a small spoon (probably baby spoon) to remind me to take small bites/sips.

I bought myself a set of appetizer utensils made by Fiesta (I collect Fiesta) to remind myself to take small bites...tiny forks, spoons, and knives...I can't wait to be able to use it!!

Sooo.... Anyone else on a stall? I haven't lost anything in 4 days. I'm actually starting to freak out a bit.

I'm on a stall too! Day 12 after surgery am I haven't lost anything the last two days :( it's super frustrating because I still am just on liquids I'm not even eating anything! This stinks.

Stalls will happen. Just stay on the recommended dietary amounts and you all will be fine.

Conquering day five. Scared to jinx myself but so far getting everything in has been easier than I thought. I like having a good variety so water is number one but decaf tea, chicken broth, watered down grape juice, are all good so far. Got to have my protein shake yesterday and both the chocolate and vanilla were fine. Took about 4 hours to get it down. And jello is part of " breakfast" but never really been a fan. Pop cycles once a day for a treat have been perfect.

Pain is decreasing no pain pills during day but I am taking them at night to help sleep. I had my first decent sleep last night and it was wonderful. It is still tough walking though. I had to go outside in very slushy snow to take care of our chickens and it was slow going. My cold is at the end but still a little little cough. Gas pains have been minimal and even in the hospital I only had two bad episodes of them. Incisions are all healing well. I feel tired and luckily have little I have to do. I fixed one of the frozen dinners I had pre made for family last night. The meatloaf smelled very strong. ( I am so glad I made up probably 12 meals. ) I had my first poop today and oh my...I was really surprised how much there was and that I didn't have any constipation.

And my arthritis pain is nearly non existent. I have lived on NSAIDs for four years so this is quite shocking.

I go tomorrow for my first follow up. It is about a 20 mile drive which I am not looking forward too.

Hi February Ladies,

Just wanted to chime in on the stall...I had a stall around 15-20 days out. It's funny, even though I knew it would happen, I was still extremely discouraged. I knew it was nothing I was doing. I'm still on liquids (a few bites of cottage cheese and yogurt). This last week I came out of the stall with a 6 lbs loss. Be patient, stalls pass!

Day 16 post op, threw up for the first time today...liquid Tylenol didn't agree with me this morning. Been on liquids since pouch not happy! The stall is real as well...been at 18 lbs Lost for 4 days, kind of upsetting but I keep on keeping on.

The stall is real. Funny. It is.

Anyone else taking Ursodiol? My gosh, they are horse pills! I am on purée but the surgeon says I can swallow the Ursodiol whole. Sheesh! I feel sick and have pain every time I take them! Massive pills!

Anyone else?

Updates February folks???. I would love to hear how all are progressing.

Hello everyone. ..had my surgery on 2/24...weighed 241....currently 228lbs...12 days out. Vomited twice because I ate too much. Completely learned my lesson. This crushed pill thing is the pitts. I am definitely getting my water n food in when I try. I don't always eat the complete amount called for but I eat something. My incisions seem to be healing well although they still hurt from time to time and the Tylenol does nothing for it. My treadmill somehow wad broken 1 wk before surgery and my husband just ordered the part..it should be here this upcoming week? I've walked around my block several times felt a little dizzy, so I doing it in moderation. I truly hope this pureed food thing ends after tomorrow. I have my first Post Op appt. with my Dr. I cannot wait. Oh one of my favorite things to drink is Chicken Broth.....love love love it...before surgery I would have never thought to drink just plain broth.
