Looking for a buddy, surgery next week!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My surgery is next week and I'm super excited. I'm not nervous at all as far as the operation goes--the journey afterward, now that's another story (I had a brain tumor removed 11/27/13, so this operation is menial to me, no offense) I'm just worried about excess skin and eating the wrong things at the wrong times. Any support would be appreciated. Guys or girls ????

Xo Tiff

Good Luck Tiffany!

It is a journey and lap band is a tool. I am still trying to manage my tool being a bit over a month post op.

It definitely will take a little bit getting used to especially when it comes to eating. I think my biggest challenge now is getting enough Protein in and finding things that won't make me sick to eat but I would do this all over again in a heartbeat if I had to. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!

Hi thanks for checking in! Surgery went well but I'm super discouraged/down by the amount of pain I'm in. ???? help.

I feel so helpless. I can't even shower by myself. Ugh.

Congrats for the first step. Where is the pain? It may be gas pain that they pump you with. Get yourself Gas-X strips pronto!!! they really do help after a few. Wander why doctors forget to mention (mine did to me, but told my sis). Also there is shoulder pain. That will last up to 5-6 weeks :(

Did they give you liquid Tylenol with Codeine? Don't skip out ;)

Hey Tiffany (my names Tiffany too, by the way :D). I hope things have improved for you over the past few days! I'm two and a half weeks post-op from my roux-en-y bypass. I promise you it gets better every day. I practically don't have any pain at all anymore. I was really discouraged in the beginning as well and wondered what in the world I'd done to myself, but now my life is returning to normal and I'm down 24.2 pounds! If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me, or I can give you my email if you'd like :) hang in there!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
