Sudden tightness 3 weeks post fill

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have had my lap band for over 4 years now.. Did not end up being successful the first several years and stop going to appointments! I recently switched doctors and got back on track and is down 40 pounds but took me over a year!

I currently have an 11 cc realize band with 10 cc's in it. Previously I did not feel much restriction.. My portions were smaller but I could still eat a decent size salad or plate. My last fill was the first week do December. I had no issues all month! Small portions, avoiding foods that I know cause "stuck episode" etc. On Sunday all of a sudden my band feels extremely tight! I understand morning tightness is normal but the last three days I can't even eat yogurt.. And now I am remaining tight throughout lunch and dinner and can barely eat my meal.

I'm not sure what the cause of this random tightness is and whether I should give it a few days to see if the band is irritated or call the doctor! Has anyone else experienced random tightness 3 weeks after a fill?

Yes. This happens to me with a headcold. The postnasal discharge clogs up my stoma, creating the feeling of more restriction. Do you happen to have a cold right now?

If you have a cold being dehydrated can tighten it up too. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids...obviously slowly if it's not going through as easy.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
