One year, second time with a cold. This shouldn't be happening!

First time my hole filled with mucus and they had to completely unfill my band. I had to start over. 4 months later, another cold. Not so severe. I drank hot liquids to keep the mucus out but now it feels as though everything is in the wrong place inside me. Minor pains on my side and center above stomach. Like it came undone from coughing and sneezing. Is this possible? I don't feel the normal hiccup when eating. Weird. Any suggestions?

  • No not really. I went in for the radiograph. Band is good and in place. the informed me that I am still not filled enough from the last time they took it all out in August, so there is no real risk

I'd call for an appointment to assess -- that's what they are there for! I have a cold rights is, too, and that mucous makes a big difference. Ugh, can't wait to be clear again. Time to go make some ginger tea.

Man. After reading this, I'm NOT looking forward to colds or flus. Keep us posted.

Have radiograph today at 2. This sucks. Second time in one year. I am self pay. So after my surgery date of 12/16 my "yearly warranty" is up! I have only lost 50 lbs. not sure it's been worth it. When that hole gets clogged they pull it all out. You have to start over and you gain. It's so depressing.

Does Mucinex or Robitussin help prevent a clog at all?

No not really. I went in for the radiograph. Band is good and in place. the informed me that I am still not filled enough from the last time they took it all out in August, so there is no real risk of a clog this time. But I have to keep drinking hot liquids 4-5 times a day to make sure. On liquid Azithromycin (Z Pack). That stuff tastes horrible. Went to a different office today than the one I usually go to. I was way more impressed. They seemed more proactive with the fills so it's not as slow as I have been going.... I am encouraged again. BE CAREFUL when you start to get sick!!! If you are in the green zone, you may run a risk of getting clogged with mucus and have to be un filled completely like I was.
