Anyone in SW Missouri / SE Kansas have DS?

Recommended Posts

I'm in SW Missouri, very near Kansas, and was hoping to find others who've had the DS and what surgeon they used. I have lap band and really need to convert to DS, it's just so hard to find the right surgeon

I'm from the Joplin area!! I went to Columbia, but they now have surgeons that work at Freeman. Dr. Coy is pretty awesome. I've known him for years :) Message me! And follow me, especially if you're so close!

Hey, we had the same surgeon! Did he ever talk to you much? What was your experience? He talked to our pre op class for 15 minutes because the hospital got complaints that he never spoke to patients. I am pleased with the operation because I had no major complications. However, he really never spoke to me in the hospital. He said something in a really hurried fashion right when I woke up after surgery. I couldn't understand one word of it. Did he do your DS? I know that he does bariatric surgery in St. Louis and Chicago, but didn't know he traveled around that much. No wonder he was in a hurry!

Samantha,

Sorry, I just got you and the original poster mixed up. I got it straightened out now. I moved from Springfield to a much smaller town up north. Hope you are doing well, sorry for the mix up!

Ha, its ok! I never saw him besides him talking in the class, but its normal. Who see's you in the office? I see Mr. McDreamy hahaha. I stayed in the hospital for two days because I felt more comfortable. The rooms were nice, the first night I had an allergic reaction to the morphine so that was horrible. Other than that everything has been perfect so far!

Mr. McDreamy? Are you talking about Dr. Suttmoeller? He is hot stuff and very funny. His wife is the head nurse at the clinic and never smiles. I only saw Dr. Suttmoeller pre op. I kind of miss him. Although Dr. Strain (post op. bariatric doctor) is quite dreamy too and very young.

Samantha,

What was the exact date of your surgery? Mine was October 7th at Univ. hospital. I'm assuming yours was there as well on a Tuesday since that is the only day of the week they do Bari surgeries. Did you have a male nurse that was bald? I am asking because he was terribly rude. He came in the middle of the night to teach me his "bariatric patient lesson". He said he was tired of patients coming back a week later because they didn't follow post op directions correctly. His demeaner was degrading like since I'm fat, I must also be stupid. He sat me at a table for an hour repeating the same kind of questions about Fluid intake. Everyone else at the hospital was wonderful, but I couldn't wait until his shift was over.

And my nurses never gave me a class lol. She was awesome. On breaks she would come to my room and we would cut up. She also would bring me stuff from home because I was sick of the hospital liquid lol.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
