  • Weird? Maybe. But it does point a giant red arrow at a possible eating disorder. Consider counseling.

  • Agreed! I, too, had surgery so I could finally eat like a normal person. I did this so I WOULDNT have to diet ever again. In 11 months, I've not counted calories or weighed my food. My sleeve does

Yup.

I understand the temptation. While I was still at the stage where you are, I think I missed flavors and chewing more than I missed actually having something in my stomach. This part of the process is a right of passage and will be over soon enough. Resist and resist some more. Walk away from the food if you have to. If you were to accidently swallow whole foods at this point, bits could get caught up in your staples and create a whole 'nother problem you don't want. Walk away from the pizza. Hang in there.

That's how bulimics get started . . . it also messes up your metabolism and blood sugar to chew up food and then spit it out. This is a great time for you to be learning ways to get those good feelings without any involvement from food whatsoever. If people are bringing pizza or other tempting foods around you, consider asking them to stop or removing yourself from the situation if you can. Good luck!

I agree. It is a huge red flag of an eating disorder. I just recently got to the point where I can openly admit I have an eating disorder and it's been a huge step in my recovery. I definitely recommend working with an eating disorder therapist and starting early in the process. It has made all the difference for me. Good luck!

@@DBLPattyMELT7am Lol! You won't die but cut that crap out!! when you CAN have pizza find a good healthy low carb version! You don't have to deprive yourself you have to "adjust" yourself that oil in the pizza is yuck on your belly!!! You spit but you still got some!

@DBLPattyMELT7am. Girl when you are able, to make ricotta bake. It's yummy and fulfills the need to eat Italian.

I missed pizza too but now it tastes so disgusting and salty. Cant stand it. LOL

LOL DBLPATTYMELT7AM, You are probably right AND I also ate a few bites of pizza about 2 weeks out. Chewed the crap out of it and swallowed it CUZ I was hungry as heck!! Once you can eat more solids some of the cravings subside. =)

I'm 10 days post op and feeling pretty bad. I am very low energy, very tired all the time. I'm getting most of my liquids in and most of the Protein needed, which is good for 10 days. but im miserable. i have a little bit of head hunger but im good at redirecting. i am bored with the liquids but im also so scared my sleeve isnt right because i dont feel full after drinking and eating. good luck OP. dont beat yourself up.

Oooh I never realized how much I will miss food while I journey through the liquid stage. I understand the temptation and how good it sounds . However, you have to be strong and resist the temptation. Find a way to talk yourself through it and keep telling yourself this is for your health and the well being of your stomach . Hang in there! Pizza will eventually be allowed again after we heal! Stay strong!

I can't believe people are suggesting you to get counseling, that is hilarious. Real quick to diagnose someone. Sheesh.... I think the girl was craving pizza and did the right thing instead of SWALLOWING it, just chewed it and spit it out. I remember when I was 10 days post op, I wanted anything and everything. When I was not eating food during the first few weeks, all I could think about was food. I was miserable. You will be so happy when you can have soft food. Try the Ricotta Bake. It is amazing and satisfies my pizza cravings and i LOVE pizza! Just try to fight off those urges and take each day at a time. That's what I kept telling myself, one day at a time. Now, if you really like to torture yourself like I did, I would go on pinterest and different blogs looking for recipes to try when I got to solids. It was like food porn for me. Lol But now I have lots of recipes bookmarked and excited to try! The time will fly by and before you know it, you'll be at Solid Foods! Hang in there!

I don't think any of us got fat by eating well. :)

Head hunger and eating issues are not solved by the sleeve. There's still work to do! Many people try to push their boundaries after surgery...can I eat this?...can I eat that? We got fat due to an unhealthy relationship with food in one way or another.

Many people can eat everything they ate before surgery. THIS is why doctors state over and over and over...the sleeve is a tool. Many people can get a bag of Oreos down even post-surgery. May take them hours, but they can do it with an unhealthy relationship with food.

Eating pizza that soon is probably not great for your new tummy, but many people who've reached their goal weight enjoy a slice of pizza....not the whole pizza...and not a slice every day. Healthy relationship with food...that's still the work we have to do.
