HELP- 5 day pouch test!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been banded since August 2012.

I find I am eating WAY too much at meal times. I have days where I can't eat and other days where I can.

I'm finding it super hard to stop eating once I am no longer hungry and I over eat.

I've fallen off the weight loss wagon and am gaining weight and i know it's due to old eating habits resurfacing and I'm not as active.

Has anyone experienced this before and has anyone done the 5 day pouch test or something similar???

I just figured going "back to basics" liquid for a couple of days, then purée, then soft and then slowly introducing solids again might help me get back to my old eating habits and of course getting back into the gym work.

I'm afraid I may have stretched my pouch or have had a slip.... Not sure. Just looking for answers and some support. I'm hoping a 5 day pouch test will help me.

if you are concerned about your band (*slip/stretched*), go to the dr and under fluro let them have a looksee and THAT will ease your mind on that level...def get back to basics.mind over matter..remember why we wanted to have this surgery in the first place...just because we can eat more than we (*should*) doesnt mean that we should...i am guilty of that myself...that being said, i see nothing wrong with liquids, soft etc.but its a day in and day out type thing..eating Protein first, veggies and some fruit and drinking a lot and exercise...you did it before and you CAN do it again...

I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test... I've been reading up on it and if I feel it hasn't helped (which I have a good feeling it will) then I will go see my Dr about looking at things a little more.

It's been a long year and I've put weight on which is getting me down. I remember how much determination I had before getting into a relationship and I want to get back to that. Wanting this so much is a start, because without wanting to get there again I will never do it.

Back to basics as soon as I'm back home from holidays seeing the partners family. liquid stage through to solid stage all over again- I will do it.

Thanks for the reply, it helps having at least one person reply and put things into some perspective. Thank you x

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
