Nervous about making the right decision

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgury June 12 in Mexico with Dr Ortiz, I feel confident about the surgeon and facilities but on some sites I hear more complaints and frustrations than succsess stories, It makes me doubt if Im doing the right thing.

Congrats on your surgery date. Just remember that you are reading on a suuport board and a lot of the people that posts here only come here to complain or find information on problems they have. You aren't hearing from a lot of people that have successful bands w/o any problems. I wouldn't base my decision on only the threads you are reading with complications.

We have several people here that haven't had any problems at all. I for one have not had any problems, but that doesn't mean I won't in the future.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

I feel that same way Linda C. I was going to schedule my surgery in Mexico with Dr. Zapata who I have heard is AWSOME, but after reading all the problems of other people, it has made me really scared. Nothing is a guarantee, but I liked to know that I am making the right decision. I am with ya sister.!!! :)

:clap2: Congrats on your surgery date, I am also scheduled in Mexico only with Dr Roriguez on June 12th. I think that we go thru alot of feelings and phases as our dates come closer. I don't know if this will be comforting or not but i am a nurse here in the US and we have complications here as well. Nothing is full proof. I have researched everything i can possibly research and i see nothing wrong with most doctors and facilities in Mexico. I think our biggest struggle in life is anxiety, fear of the unknown. I wish you luck with your surgery and dealing with the stress & anxiety. If you follow your Doctors pre and post op instructions i am sure that you'll do fine!!! I know i have been on the rollercoaster of feelings and i am sooo excited to start my new journey!!!! Feel free to contact me if you need support!!!:youcandothis:

Please don't let anyone talk you out of your dreams! I am using Dr. Arturo Rodriguez, too after lots of research and people I know who have used him. Luckily, my mom is very supportive. Serveral of my friends, though keep telling me how crazy I am to go to Mexico. It is very difficult, but I don't want to live my life any longer regretting not taking control of my life!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
