any complications from having a hiatal sliding hernia and gastric by pass surgery?

just wondering if anybody who had a hernia surgery many years ago and has a gastric by pass, if problems, and experience at hospital. How long was your surgery? did doc begin lapro and then have to cut open? blood transfusion required? recovery time? etc. thanks
