No surgery dates till January!

Recommended Posts

So, the journey just got longer. After 10 months of jumping through every hoop, I finally see the surgeon and he approves me to see the scheduler. It was all becoming real for me, then bam! They have no dates open the rest of this year. I still don't have a date , but am told I am first for the January schedule. All of this means that I have 10 more weeks to be under the microscope in regards to weight loss and food journaling. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, it's just disappointing to finally make it to hear I need to wait. The appointment lasted 1.5 hours as it was. I was really nervous and was worried I would not get the go ahead.

You might ask agIn if you can have this surgery this year-if you had as many tests as I have had, it would be friendlier to you from an insurance deductible perspective. I would use that approach-it will cost you more after the first of the year because you would have to start all over with deductibles. Also ask to be on a waiting list. Things happen- people get the flu, etc. good luck I hope this helps.

Hi, I'm getting in touch from Blink Films a TV Production company based in London.

We're currently looking for people to take part in a series for a major UK broadcaster about what life is like in an obese family. Do you know anyone that might be interested in a chat about taking part.

This will be a warm and non-judgmental series for Channel Four about family relationships. We will be able to offer professional support to help you lose weight as a family. We are currently filming a similar documentary series about weight loss, and as part of this we have offered nutritional counselling, personal training and a gastric sleeve.

To take part you and your family need to be clinically obese, with a BMI of over 40. Ideally we’d like to find a family who all have a very high BMI but we would also consider families where two or more members are obese and others are not.

If you think that you, or someone you know, might like to take part then please email: maddie.dodd@blinkfilmsuk.com

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
