First fill yesterday still hungry

Recommended Posts

I finally went for my first fill yesterday and got 2cc in my 10cc VG band which I know is hardly anything. When I was doing the barium swallow I could not tolerate 3cc or 2.5cc so he only put 2cc which was fine but I am still very hungry. My question is does it sometimes take time to feel the restriction or am I screwed until I get another fill? This would suck if I don't feel any restriction because I can't afford another fill until next month.

Thanks,

Stacy

Stacy, I got my first fill yesterday too (3 ccs). I don't feel much TOO much different. Maybe a little. After surgery, I had little appetite until about 2 weeks ago when I was starting to get really hungry again. I am not as hungry but I really don't feel much restriction.

I was told to call in one month if I'm not losing weight and if I have a lot of hunger. Otherwise, I go for another fill in 2 months.

Give it some time, and then see if you can get a fill earlier than scheduled.

I also was filled the day before yesterday; first fill. I have the 10cc band; and he put in 7 cc of fill. He had me swallow the barium under fluro; and sure as anything; I was flowing fine with that much at my first fill. I feel more restriction for sure; but the amount has varied the last two days. Certainly nothing like what I want to have; not at my sweet spot; most likely won't be for a while. But with just 3 cc left to play with - I hope that my fill will 'kick in' more restriction, like others describe.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
