Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am in the second week of my plan which includes pureed Soup. Have any of you found one that is already prepared,

and healthy to boot! Would be interested in any feedback.

Thank you

Not on a program...but when I hear you say healthy purees, I think veggie based Soups. Roasted Butternut Squash, Carrot/Parsnip. But it depends on what you're looking for. Tomato is great for Vitamin c...but is high acid. Peas are yummy, but high in sugar. Anything with an added green vegetable would be very healthy.

I just puréed minestrone vegetable, Progresso! It was amazing! I topped it off with some Parmesan cheese! I feel like I had an Italian meal! I'm on day 4, but my surgeon says, "If it pours, it's yours!" It's a nice change from the shakes, which aren't too bad, and I need them for the Protein goal. He suggested the Progresso Vegetable minestrone. I'm happy he did!

I'm pre-op, but i freaking love Soup. I like making it from scratch, but there's some good healthy premade options too. Canned or boxed lentil Soups are amazing. Lentils are low fat and packed with Protein, Fiber, and tons of good stuff. Black bean soups too. You could easily stick some Annie's lentil soup in the blender for a healthy option. Omg just thinking about that Annie's lentil soup is making me hungry (I'm day one of my 2week pre-op diet)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
