I don't have to start this until Oct 4th, but I was curious to what everyone is eating.

I have a 2 week liquid diet I have to do. Its almost all Protein Shakes that I got from my Drs office and 1-2 cups of veggies until 3 days before surgery then its straight Protein shakes. For 2 weeks.. :/ Sorry I'm still wrapping my head around it lol. I start that on 10/5, with surgery on 10/20.. I'm a little jealous of the people that only have to do a low carb diet or a few days of liquids.< /p>

i did a two week liquid diet which included shakes, Isopure rtf, and any other low to no cal beverge w/o no carbonation. I did muscle milk, powdered shakes, and isopure. After 2 days, you are not hungry and you know you can do it!

I agree with it's all good! 2 week liquid diet for me. No food at all. Some of you are lucky to be able to eat a small meal. I'm on day 4 & I feel great. It's not as hard as I thought it would be. Stay hydrated & stay focused. We came too far to turn back now. Best wishes to everyone.

Everyone 's surgeon has a different plan...what are your instructions?

1 did 16 days of 3 Protein shakes /day plus unlimited leafy green veggies (spinach, lettuce, broccoli, brussel sprouts). I could substitute broth with unflavored Protein powder added for one of the shakes. I think I was allowed SF Jello but never had any. I made Popsicles out of Protein drinks for a treat. Drank lots of Water.

Lost 22 pounds in 16 days and had a smooth easy recovery from surgery.

I was supposed to do 14 days of Protein shakes and clear liquid only but I got a call asking if I wanted to move up my surgery. I am now on day 5 of 10 days of 4 Protein Shakes per day and no food. Honestly, it's not as hard as I thought it would be. I do make dinner for my family and the smells make me a little hungry but I try to plan my shakes as I cook. The only thing that I have noticed is that I am really tired. If I sit, I fall asleep. Can't wait until Friday!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
