African American vsgers!

  • Popular Post

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.

I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies and seeing some progress pics!

@@Unbesleeveable, my NUT said I should get in a minimum of 65g a day. I started lifting weights and was advised to take at least 100g on days I weight lift.

Hello Ladies, I was sleeved on 4/8/14. I am 5 feet even. My pre-surgery weight was 219 lbs. The day of surgery I weighed 207 lbs. I am 8 months post op and currently weigh 144 lbs. I still have 14-24 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight. Here are a few progress pics.

The picture where I was wearing the black and white striped dress is from 12/12/14. This is my current weight. post-216590-0-48179800-1418848525_thumb.jpgpost-216590-0-43578500-1418848551_thumb.jpg

I wish you all the best on your journey!

Hey missbrown30,you look awesome. Great job! Keep up the good work.

I always had a problem with the top of my head being shorter. I don't know if it is due to genetics or what. I noticed today that it is a little shorter. I just started taking 10,000 mcg of biotin like 7 days ago. With the proper care of eating and moisturizing my hair correctly ,I hope it will start to grow.

It's nice to hear everyone's story. I received my approval today and I will know my date on Friday. They also told me to be ready to start my 2 week liquid diet on Friday. I am so ready for this. I too had to do the 6 month nutrition classes, didn't want to but I knew it was protocol. Anyway I'll keep you all posted on the happening......I'm in NC.

Hey guys ! I was the one who started this thread and I'm so glad to see you all connecting. Here's a little photo update on me . Right now I'm just working on getting workouts in. I've been in and out of the hospital since my pouch keeps getting restricted but I'm doing well now. I've stalled for the second time so I'm going to kick up the workouts and protein to try and get the scale moving again. Hope you all are doing well. And you can find me on instagram @theshrinkingdutchess .

Shrinking dutchess in deed. Look at all that weight you lost on, what, 5 months? Please share your success. Good job.

Hello all! Congrats to those that have been sleeved. I hope you are all doing well and making progress. Thanks for sharing your stories. They're really helpful to those of us that have not been sleeved yet.

I am scheduled to be sleeved on 12/29 in Tijuana, MX. My insurance wouldn't cover the surgery because my bmi is not high enough and I don't have any of the co-morbidity conditions that are required for coverage. For those ladies that went to MX (I saw a couple throughout the thread that said they were going), did you have any difficulties? Who was your surgeon?

I'm on my pre-op diet right now and I have one of the ones that allows for two or three Protein shakes and a lean and green meal, which I'm grateful for. I know some are only allowed Clear liquids and sometimes for a full two weeks! Can't wait to get through it and get my surgery done. It's all I think about.

Best of luck to you all on your journey! I hope each and everyone of you not only meet your goal but also conquer whatever issues and bad habits you had that got you to where you were to begin with. I'm praying for you and please pray for me!

Hello

Congratulations to all on your new journey. Keep up the great work. I began on May 30, and i have lost a total of 75lbs so far but i have a long way to go before i reach my goal weight, which is 155.

Good luck everyone!

Good afternoon, yes, every NUT advises differently. I know that the min intake for me is 60g and the max is 80 as your body really does not absorb much more than that per daily basis(or so my NUT says) lol I also take gummy Vitamins and sublingual B12 in addition to vit d3 2000 IU daily. I was fortunate not to lose my hair, was obsessing abut it and so I made sure to hit the Protein mark daily tin efforts to maintain.

How are you feeling now?

@@Unbesleeveable, great job!
