Left Side Pain 17 mo post op

Recommended Posts

I'm 8 weeks out. Everything was perfect till 1 week ago. I started getting pain under my left rib the next day it was down my left side right to the tip of pubic bone. I ended up going to my GP last Thursday. He sent me straight to the major hospital. I had my surgery in Mexico and am living in Canada. So the Medical team ran a CT scan X-rays blood work and it was all fine. They wanted to admit me however being Easter Weekend I wouldn't see a surgeon till today. I said if it's absolutely necessary I will stay, but if not I'm only 20 mins away so I chose to go home. No fever norm blood pressure no prob eating or drinking urine fine bowels fine. Just very very tender abdomen and I can't stand very long. I called my surgeon in Mexico he says it could be inflamed stomach. I tried to explain the pain but I don't agree with that. Needless to say the med team said that the gastric surgeon at the hospital will prob do a barium swallow and a scope. I'm scared to death as this is getting worse each day.

Andrea Barnes Douglas, how has your situation turned out? Are you better? I am having pain under my left breast at my rib cage too. I am 2 weeks out and am curious about your situation.

Thanks.

So I started feeling those little uncomfortable twinges last night on the drive home from work. All was normal, I was sipping on my Water on the drive home and suddenly, those little sharp pings on my left side under rib cage. It got worse until I finally pulled over, got out of the car, stood up and walked for a few minutes and it went away. Then as I drove home I was too afraid to drink any more of my water, as I thought somebody was wrong, or I had a leak or something. Two hours later, I'm sitting at home and I decided to give some Soup a try. Sure enough, if I ate the soup too fast, I'd start to feel those twinges again. So I'd stop eating and it would go away. I figured out real quick that as long as I took a bite of soup every five minutes or so, I wouldn't get those pains. I'm very nervous about a leak.

So after those couple times, that was the last I experienced that! Haven't had it since

Hi I know it has been some years since this was started but I wanted to share my info just in case someone is looking for the same issue.

My left side under rib cage dull pain would only be on set when sitting. I am 16 months since my sleeve and have lost 130+ lbs. I went for several tests and on some days the pain was so bad I would go to the ER to be told they have no idea what is wrong with me. I had CT Scans and MRI but MRI was of spine. Was told by my orthopedic dr I had a pinched nerve in my spine and the nerve that is pinched is responsible for that area. I was told that due to the weight loss, my body is no more 'compressed' and that there is less 'cushion' to absorb the daily bangs of living now. I don't know if this is the settling answer for me but it's been over 7 mos of this pain and tests and more Dr's than I ever want to see again. There seems to be some relief when I take a muscle relaxer like Amtrix/Flexeril (not sure how to spell it) and Valium and if I keep up on taking a vegetable laxative every day. But the Dr wants to inject whatever into the spaces of my vertebra to cushion the area the nerve is pinched.

I don't know about messing with my spine. This is something I can not live with so I have been going to chiropractor before I go digging in my back.

Also, I have GREAT insurance. My sleeve surgery cost me nothing and these Dr visits are all just $10 copay so I also feel like there is a hidden agenda sometimes to milk my insurance and rush me to do this and that.

That's where I am at. Maybe this will help someone?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
