Grrrr. Got a call today. The surgery coordinator was off for a couple weeks. Apparently the person taking over for her messed up. My surgery was bumped from 10/6 to 10/14. Then my husband called and bitched. She called me back a few hours later and said they had a cancellation 9/22 if I wanted it. That's just a little toooo soon since I haven't planned for it, have patients scheduled, would have to start post op diet TOMORROW. She said she was going to offer someone else on 10/6 the earlier appointment and try to get me back on 10/6. Still haven't heard back from her! Soooooo frustrating.

I go on Thursday for a clinical seminar with the RN to go over what to expect before and after the surgery as well as what to expect the first couple weeks after surgery and then after that I go for all the pre-op testing (EKG, bloodwork etc). Then a week from today I go in for the Upper Gastroscopy. Things are moving quick now that I have gotten the approval and date of surgery. Anyone feeling anxious? I am so excited but so nervous.

I'm incredibly excited but very nervous! Totally understand how you feel! I'm on a 1200 calorie diet this week and Optifast for 2 weeks afterwards, then surgery Oct 6. :)

I am scheduled October 1.. All approved by insurance and just prepping

Buying the stuff I need...

Anyone know a place to buy Isopure drink??? Cheaper than GNC

October sleeves hope to stay in touch

I've noticed a lot of people saying they have purchased isopure. Is that because your surgeon suggested it? Or because of another reason? Just curious. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
