I have strongly been considering LASIK eye surgery for a long time and have saved up the money to have it done. I'm scheduled for my sleeve in just over two weeks, and I'm wondering if the extreme weight loss could effect my vision at all. Maybe a silly question, but I wonder if somehow the weight loss changes your prescription, for better or worse. If it doesn't effect it at all, I may look at having LASIK done during the four weeks I'm off for the sleeve, since I'm already out of work. If it does change it, I may need to weight quite a while until I get closer to goal. Anyone have any info or insight on this? I plan to ask my surgeon as well, but often find all the answers here in these boards! Thanks for all the help! :)

I'm almost 5 months post op & do feel my vision is different. I'm also over 40 so not sure if related to surgery or age! Good luck!

I am five months out and now considering going in for a new prescription. I have far sightedness and astigmatism and everything past the front of my car is out of focus. Makes driving fun. I'm reading on the forums this is very common. If it were me I would wait cause it would be awful to have to get it done twice. Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
