JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

 • Popular Post

Hey folks. I was looking to set up a thread for July 2014 sleevers. I believe the other threads were originally back in 2013.

I just had my surgery on July 2. I'm SO glad I did this. My breaking point was being diagnosed with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and a host of other problems. I put on another 30 pounds from October to February of this year. I was a good 185 and quit smoking. I ballooned up to 305. I'm self pay and I got to 278 during my pre-surgery.

Since the surgery, I don't think I've been hungry, but I'm still dealing with the healing process. My first postop is Thursday. My only complaint is the low energy level. I knew it was coming, but wow.

I'd like to hear from those who started their life change this month. I am also hoping this can be a thread we can keep tabs on each other, as well as provide motivation when we need it

Week 3 My date was 7/2. I'm wondering what some other folks from the first week of July are able to eat. I'm still prettying on liquids. I am having some Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I haven't ventured past that. So what are you guys eating for your 3rd week that sits well?

Sleeved on July 1st.

Hi, I have done the strained creamed soups and yogurt. I did take chicken noodle soup and placed it in a blender due to craving flavor so bad. I would say it was very liquid purée. I am to start purée next Monday, so I think I may have rushed it a little. I can only take in about 4oz of thinner liquids at a time and the thicker cream based soups 2oz. I am still having trouble getting all the protein in and the water. I get about 30 of protein and 24 of water on top of the other liquids during the day. I have no appetite and do not feel hunger yet. I do have cravings but it is not for anything specific, just flavor. I am looking forward to the purée so that I can get more flavor and hopefully more protein then I have been able to get in during the day.

Okay guys, I'm staring to panic. Before surgery my greatest fear was that it wouldn't work. I am 4 days post op and still weigh the same as when I went in for the surgery. In fact I came out of hospital pound or two up. Not looking for drastic loss, but some kind of downward trend would be welcome. Even a few ounces.

Yeah-I heard you are very sullen after-and should wait a week.

I was just sleeved on the 14th discharged on the 16th. For the entire time I was there they had LR running at 125 ml/hr. That is 6 liters if fluids in a very short amount if time. That will add to the weight gain post surgery along with being swollen. I too weighed 4 pounds more then when I went in. I started at 360 was 335 at the start of my 2 week preop diet. Surgery day 314... Couldn't help myself but weighed myself when I got home and was 319, but just now I weighed myself and I was 309. I have been walking and drinking fluids but everything tastes yucky. Although today I ate some strained cream soup and sf chocolate pudding with protein added. Eating some "regular foods" has made things taste a little better.

I had my surgery July 1. As of now, I'm having Greek yogurt, all types of soup, water and protein shakes. Like you, I feel my sleeve gets empty fast. I must get that water in when this happens instead of eating more.

Congratulations! I'm set for July 29th. Look forward to following along in everyone's July Journey.

I am also July 29. My original date was August 26th. I can't believe that a week from Tuesday is the day. I am excited and scared.

My intervention was on 07-07-14.

I'm 11 days post-op today and I feel 90% normal especially my energy level. I can walk around and do some work around the house.

Still have a nurse come to do the injection of anti blood clots medicine everyday though. 5 more day to go,

I eat 4 meals of Soup and/or yogurt with fruit pureed 60-70 gr. per meal and at least 1 litre of Water,

In the past 10 days I lost 13.86 lbs and today I just stopped losing, Oh well, still a long way to go, I know, but boy, it's been fun watching the scale in the pass 10 days!! lol

I start to fit into my old cloths (1 or 2 size down) it's the fun/amazing part! Boy I stored TONs of them for one day I'd fit into them and now I can see that that day will come!

The new sleevers out there, don't be discourage, you will feel better and better every single day!!

Courage!!

Hi there.. I just came upon this post.. We had ours the same day! How are you feeling now? How was your 1 week post op?

I'm doing so much better.. I'm out walking a little.. I had tomato soup and it was runny but I had 4 tablespoons and it was to much!.. I now have a belly ache .. I cannot let my eyes over load my belly.. BIG MISTAKE!... I've lost a total including pre-op 18 pounds.. I'll take it!...

I had Surgery July 9th.. I came home this morning on July 10th.. I can't keep anything down.. Everytime I take a sip of Water I throw up and dry heave.. It really hurts my belly.. My neck and shoulders are super sore also.. Is the sickness normal?

I had my surgery the 9th too-I'm not throwing up the water. But if I drink anything else -specifically Jello or gaterade-I throw up.

Have you been walking? I heard that helps with the shoulder pain.

Congrats to you and your weight loss!... I had my sleeve on July 9th and I'm only down 18 including pre-op.. I lost most of it during pre-op.. I guess I was starving myself the first week.. I know I got dehydrated really bad... Is that all you are eating is your Soups and yogurts.. Can you give me an example of your menu for the day?.. Someone said I need t eat more..I'm actually walking now for the last 2 days.. Thanks!

Hey guys , sleeved on July 7th and pain is much less but still a little sore on the right side. I'm a little nervous bc I am eating the cream soup atleast 3/4 times a day and that may be too much . It's over 1/3 a cup . I just don't want my stomach to stretch or gain any weight but it's the one thing I enjoy. I like the Popsicles too. i get full easy but then i wanna taste food a little later on . maybe im bored. Anyone else nervous they maybe be eating more than they should ?

Had surgery on Monday July 14th. Just got out of the hospital. So glad to be home. Really happy that it's over. Now ready for a new me !

I'm with you on that. I'm tasting a few things here and there. I haven't weighed in a little over a week and am a little worried I may be overeating too. I think it's in our head. When I eat, it's so little really.

Hi NavyMoM6, my surgeon didn't give any restriction for the food, I can eat anything (natural, no sugar, not processed) but blended well into liquid, but not raw vegetable yet. So I eat soup, yogurt and pureed of fruits 50-70 gramme per meal, for example:-

8.00 - 1 mug of coffee decaf, 2 tbs concentrate milk

12.00 Broccoli cheese soup with cottage cheese 60 grm

12.30 - 1 mug of coffee decaf, 2 tbs concentrate milk

16.00 Mango lassy 50 grm

20.00 pumpkin soup 50 grm + yogurt with strawberry pureed 20 grm

no Protein shake, no Vitamins whatsoever.

At the beginning, I was worried that I'd eat too little because my energy and sugar level was quite low so I added up to 70 grm also depend on which kind of soup, today I had a difficulty to finish the soup probably because it's quite thick.

Yesterday I didn't lost any but today this morning I lost 1.32 lbs Yay!

Yesterday was quite funny, my hubby decided to have a bowl of soup for dinner too but, he was eating in the real bowl, I put my tiny sauce bowl next to his and I was certain that I'm not eating too much lol

I absolutely feel the same way you feel.. I been eating soup and I bought Baby Bell cheese and when I eat it slow and smash it up good it really goes down nicely.. I worry now about stretching my belly out.. I would have to think it would be harder than just soup to make it stretch.. I guess as long as we are walking and losing we are doing it right.. I'm loving sugar free bomb pops!

My surgery was 7/14/14. Im 5 days post op. It has been a little struggle, first few days it was hard getting my liquids down. I was always feeling so full so fast. Now I can get water and crystal light. When I eat soup sometimes I feel like I have eaten too much. I start feeling it all in my chest and shoulders. It is taking some getting use to knowing when to stop and what that feeling is like before the pain.

As far as the scale I dont own one and im glad, im going to wait until my one week post op visit on Monday to see what the results are. I may think about buying one at a later time. Lol.

Other than all of that, the normalcy is coming back one day at a time. Ive been walking and making sure I take my vitamins, drinking my protein, and doing my breathing exercises.

Hello all, my surgery is scheduled for July 22nd.....I cant wait. Was everyone able to stay faithful to the liquid diet pre-op? I'm struggling over here.
