only lost 11lb since May 15

Recommended Posts

Surgery May 15 and today is July 2 and I have lost 11 pounds. I am discouraged. I have had two fills and can still eat bread, steaks, tortillas, potatoes. I have to eat really slow but I get these foods down. I am starting to walk for short brisk walks often. Long walks make my chin splints hurt. I am hungry but have not overeaten nor binged. I am a little afraid of my fill tomorrow because I have heard stories of a tight band being really hard to handle. Any suggestions?

I am happy that I can cross my legs now but my inner thighs still rub together when I walk. Need some support form you bankers out there...please. Jenn

You're only 6 weeks out so you've got plenty of time to catch up and 11 lbs in weeks is very good even if it was mostly in the first 2 weeks.

My story: Surgery 11/28/11...Lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Frustrated, pissed-off, you betcha. Late march I got my 3rd fill and a consult with my bariatric nutritionist. She straightened me out on the foods that work best with the band and 3 more fills got me to the green zone. I lost 38 more lbs over the next 4 months.

Your experience is very familiar and I understand how badly you wanted this rocket to launch but for some of us, it takes a few months for the band to be adjusted correctly so you're not hungry between meals.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
