Eating all the wrong things

Recommended Posts

Don't kick yourself please, It'll only leave you with bruises! ;) What's done is done. This is all a part of learning, so pick yourself up. Forgive yourself for being human and start again. You can do this! You faced surgery, that takes a lot of guts!!! This is only a little bump in your road. When we learned to walk we had to crawl first then it took some stumbles and some falls to finally learn to walk. This is no different. You've had your first stumble, it doesn't mean you'll never walk or run. So back on the shakes and off you go again. :D

No need for us to judge you. I ate a small piece of soft crockpot chicken at 5 weeks post op and choked. I seriously thought it was a heart attack. I went back on pureed 2 more weeks. You can do the same. I worry you will jeopardize your health. We have choices, Make good ones for yourself and your family. Happy summer!

I will be 5 weeks post op Wednesday and I am off food restrictions except for steak and pork chops which I have to wait for until I am 3 months post op.

I was worried that I might fall back into bad habits but I'm determined to not fail. Be strong. We can be strong together :)

So get back on your program and move forward. Then analyze what caused you to sabotage yourself. Last, come up with some strategies to use next time those triggers occur. Knowledge will you help you..

Best of luck to you.

Hi Jena, my doc wanted me to start eating regular food a week after surgery, you're fine! I struggle with the mental aspect of everything, it's tough. Im 3 months out, down 65lbs.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
