Looking for Sleeve Buddy in NC

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm in the beginning stages of my surgery process. I came in with high hopes, I was hoping I would be able to have surgery within 4 months. Unfortunately I was informed BCBS NC requires me to complete 6 month supervised diet, I won't be able to have my surgery until December :(. Honestly I am depressed and very disappointed. I've been dealing with my weight issue since Preschool.

I've been on numerous diets, i've gained all the weight back then some. After attending my biatric surgical practice educational seminar I was extremely excited and ready. So now I'm trying to pick myself up and look at the brighter side of all of this but it's hard.

Is there anyone experiencing same thing or have any advice? Are you beginning sleeve process?

Those 6 months will Fly by! I started my process in Feb and my insurance required a 3 month documented diet. I thought I would never get to this point and my surgery is scheduled for July 21st.!

Dana, you should be excited b/c they've changed the requirement. There's no longer a 6 month weight. I'm in NC too!

I am very excited! I will be completing my endoscopy on 9/4 and that's it for my pre-op appointments. So I'm hoping I can have my surgery the beginning of October. Where are you with your appointments?

@@Danalodon0825 I hope your endocopy goes smoothly. I was nervous about the process, but I don't remember a thing after I was told to roll over lol. My final pre-surgery group meeting is on the 29th where we'll sample different types of Proteins and Multi Vitamins, discuss goals with my surgeon, and tie up any other final things. My surgery is on the 14th of October. Do they have a date in mind for you yet?

Thanks, it went great. Everything happened very quickly and the staff were just awesome at Atlantic Gastroenterology! At this point I'm waiting for insurance approval from BCBS NC. Once approved I'll meet with my surgeon and schedule procedure date :)! I'm very excited, all I think about is having surgery. Best wishes to all!

I'm with bcbs svc they are making me do a 12 month program. Where in NC are you?
Honestly take the tone work the program abs learn as much as you can. Really look art this time as the begging off your journey. So not wait until the surgery date too make changes in you're life! I am 7 months into my program and I remember when my doc told me 12 months i envy home and cried. After that I decided if I have to do it I may as well make the most of it. I am down 15 lbs and my doc is trying to get me an early approval.
You can do it, one day at a time, one lbs at a time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
