"I'm so stupi--NO, I'm just learning!" What was one of your aha's?

Recommended Posts

So this morning I got my Breakfast ready, and it wasn't my usual fare since I have an odd day today (and my hubby used up the eggs). The plate held half a Quest bar, half a banana with half a tablespoon of Justins' natural Peanut Butter. All within my plan and good foods. I sit down to eat while I read my favorite website posts (here of course!) and quickly realize I've eaten the banana first...and I'm feeling kind of full. NOT good! I know full well I must eat my Protein first, and then fruit, etc after that if there's room. Duh. I started to berate myself, as in "You're so stupi--" and that's as far as i got this time. "No, you're just learning! Now you've learned first hand what can happen if you don't do it that way. Incorporate that learning henceforth." SUCH a different approach and felt so much better.

What "aha" learnings have you all had?

don't know if it fits into this catagory...but I have recently learned that I actually like tofu!

I bought some Mock chicken salad from Whole Foods, and it is YUM-O! I plan on making my own in the future

but I have corrected myself on the berating as well!

Follow the plan after surgery. I tried lunchmeat at week 3. It was painful. I saw that to eat something I haven't had after surgery, try a little bit. Wait and see how the Goddess sleeve reacts. Favorable or painful. I've also found that I have restructured my thinking about food and shopping. Now when I grocery shop, I look at something and think.......1 package of meat 4-6 meals. Not 1 or two. LOL When I shop, I can shop for 2 weeks at a time and spend less than what I used to spend for 1 week. And that is with buying strictly organic.

I now my eyes are way bigger than my stomach. Yesterday, I fixed Breakfast with 2 eggs and about 1/2 cup of refried Beans. Could only eat half of it, so the dog made out. Today, I was very hungry at breakfast time and cooked the same amount and again I couold only eat half and the dog made out.Moral to the story, if you listen to your eyes the dog will get fat or the dog likes my new diet.

You are newly sleeved. I cannot eat half a Quest Bar since sleeving in November. It is just too dense for me. I can eat 1/2 a banana for breakfast and be full. I really enjoy yogurt and it fills me up. My husband eats 1 meal a day. We barely eat eggs anymore but I did eat a couple as soon as we could have them. We are living and learning a new way and it isn't all perfection. I like eating 1/2 of anything and seeing if I am satisfied. We all need to make sure we have our healthy options on hand, otherwise we might grab something else. Best of luck!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
