So I was suppose to have my sleeve done in July but I was asked if I wanted it done June 27...well hell yeah, so now I don't have as much time to anguish over the whole surgery thing which is good.. But still getting nervous, my doctor said that having my gall bladder out last year was worse than having the sleeve done so let's see.. 9 days and counting, my dr also has me on liquids for 2 days before my surgery , anyone else have this cuz I noticed most people here have 2 weeks of liquid

Congrats on the new date!!! I just have a week of two shakes and some food like a lean cuisine or smart one. My pre-op is Thursday and my surgery is June 25th. Good luck with your surgery and recovery.

Not really nervous just unsure of what to expect. I have had 6 surgeries previously but they were all on my back. I don't know what to expect from an abdominal surgery. Hoping that the pain isn't to bad. I know I will have the lovely pain med button to push when I need it. I am busy wondering about what the pre-op appointment will be like. I have an appointment at the doctor's office that is 4 hours long and then stuff to do at the hospital. I have never met my surgeon before, he has quite the reputation in my area of being an amazing doctor.

That's great that you have a dr with a good reputation , that's always a good thing. The way I'm thinking about this is like when you are having a baby and you are having contraction pains, you push through the pain because when the pain is over you have a beautiful baby, well when your pain is over after having surgery you are on your way to having a beautiful body, yeah it might be saggy and lose fitting but there will be less and you will feel so much better in the long run

I'm 9 days out and I can tell you, I was in VERY LITTLE pain -- more just that gas pressure in the chest and shoulders. I had a dose of pain med the night of surgery and had regular tylenol IV while in the hospital and that was it. I never had a pain pump and would have refused it if they offered because I just really didn't have pain.

I've had c-sections and this was NOTHING compared to those. No stomach pain at all -- just a little "discomfort" when swinging my feet off the bed, stuff like that.

You can do this! Best wishes!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
