Side Effects!

So I'm 5 wks post op and I'm noticing that my nails are breaking very easily. My nails are average length, maybe a little longer and lately they been breaking down to the skin! Ouch!! I was warned that your hair may shed, but I just found out that your nails may suffer as well. I'm not concerned too much because I know they will grow back but I'm curious is this a preview of what my hair will go thru. I can accept hair shedding but like anyone else I don't want to lose handfuls of hair!!!!

Are you taking any Biotin pills and all your vitamins?

I have a little hair shedding, but my nails are fine.

BIOTIN! Or hair, Skin, and Nails. YOu can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe (or drug stores) and they're pretty cheap. I cant keep my nails SHORT enough anymore, I've been taking it for 6 weeks.

get on a steady regime of BIOTIN!!!! or a quality hair, Skin, and Nails vitamin! The Vitamin shoppe or GNC, I started it now so hopefully I won't have any problems with that after my surgery. Good Luck

My surgeon told me that taking biotin to stop hair shedding is a MYTH. Yes it promotes healthy hair and nails but it doesn't make it grow.. I actually learned that in hair school too. Biotin makes ya hair stronger but doesn't promote growth but does wonders for nails.. To each it's own, I just plan on upping my protein which is wonders for hair and try to drink plenty of water which increases hair volume and shine... It's just so hard lol my sleeve don't be wanting it but I have to force it down
