Hey everyone ! Happy Monday! I have a slight problem. Well actually, problem(s)! I'm 6 days out, I've lost 15 pounds (which is awesome) and I've been doing well with my liquid diet but I have so much going on! I have a very sensitive body so.....

1) the Protein Shakes make me feel AWFUL .,, from the taste, smell, and the nausea... Just awful! I can't tolerate them!

2) my Vitamins are chewable and make me nauseous as well. I was forced to go to GNC to purchase vitamins that I could just swallow rather than chew.... Is that horrible?

3) I went to class today and went too long without Water and I felt awful! I saw a nearby mcdonalds and got a cup of water through the drive thru and TOTALLY forgot about the no straw rule 1 minute into drinking my water!!!!! I have so much indigestion, hiccups, and gas.... Has anyone experienced this? If so, how long will it last?

4) I've been walking for 20-30 minutes per day.... Which is the bare minimum (in my opinion) -- should I be doing more?

Please help!?

Maybe you should ask your doc about nausea meds they can help you. As far as Protein they made me sick too!! I am 5 weeks out and I can tell you it does get better even if it does not feel that way now. It is all a learning process and just take it easy on yourself. Your body has gone through a big change. I think you are right on target for walking. I pray you get better soon. Take care God Bless!

So sorry you aren't feeling well but I know how you feel. The first month after surgery I was sick most of the time. I could not handle the Protein powders and still can't so I switched to Ensure High Protein and still drink one every day as meal supplement. The calories are a little higher than the powder and it only has 25g protein but I make it work. The chewable vitamins are disgusting in my opinion and I switched to a normal Vitamin as soon as the Dr would allow me. You sound right on track for walking, keep up the good work. Things will get better, it just takes time unfortunately.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
