Numbness in upper left leg

Recommended Posts

I'm four days post op. Doing pretty well, except for my left leg thigh area being numb. Just started yesterday. Anyone heard of this?

My guess is this could be from several things -- lying in the hospital bed could have caused some nerve pain; possible blood clot cutting off circulation ...

Call your doctor just to be safe!

I had the same thing but in my right thigh. I called my Drs office and the nurse on call said its a very common thing to experience due to some electric current that they use during surgery while it being on your thigh. After I spoke with them I checked and I saw that they shaved that area. So I guess he was right. Today being banded for 1 week , The numbness has gone YAY Good luck

Banded for almost 4 weeks now. I had the same experience. Laying on your back for a long time, especially in the hospital bed, can cause nerves to get pinched. I developed a pinched nerve that made my whole upper left thigh go numb with burning sensations under the skin. It would wake me up and I would just be in pain in my leg until I got off my back. Try sleeping with a pillow under your knees if you sleep on your back or if you sleep on your side put the pillow between your knees. That helped me a lot.

Hope you find some relief soon! Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
