We just went to ikea and bought some toddler bowls and some mini spoons .... We are still looking for some small forks and things like that! We found some little 2oz cups that will hopefully help

MexicanGirl is all about the plastic and I like fancier glass, so it really excited me when we found these adorable little expresso cups at IKEA. It came in a 2 pack so we each have one. I can't wait to feel fancy drinking my broth!

Sounds like a wonderful family. I have 2 grown daughter. 5 grandchildren from 10- 6 months. My husband retired after 22 years in Navy and now is a electricrican in a steel mill.I too am blessed. My body mass high bp and sleep apnea did this for me. My 2 week diet is a like egodsend compared to some. We moved 3 hours away to take this job so I will be going home the 7-13 to spend some time with the kids..

11 days to go. Yesterday was the first day cutting out caffeine. That makes it day #2 of a killer headache and extreme lethargy. Withdrawals from sugar and caffeine sucks.

Oh my! I gave up caffeine for lent years ago...I know exactly how you feel. Take care of yourself! Caffeine no more? Really? They hid that in the fine print! I have 4 espresso shots & coffee everyday! Whew, that's gonna be a killer! 11 days to go is so awesome! Congrats!

Thanks! I figured better to deal with a headache now and get it over with than to face it during post op. So many things to get done and shop for. I have all my Vitamins. Now I need to get Protein Drinks and stage 2 supplies.

Caffeine is really harmful to your pouch. It can errode your new pouch and cause life threatening ulcers if unchecked. You should have heard everyone in my orientation class groan with dread when our NUT. said no more caffeine, ever!

Me too! Then gave in after a couple weeks. I'm up at 245 am weekdays. That may be the roughest part of this.

That is so interesting...my NUT said I needed to cut back to 2 shots of espresso a day post op, but coffee was fine. I'll ask my surgeon....thanks for the insight!

We have a lot in common -- I'm 5'3" or 5'4" depending on how much I slouch! :) I'm also just on the cusp -- weighed 209 the first visit with the surgeon. I have GERD and sleep apnea and some joint pain, so insurance will cover. I hope you find a way to get insurance to pay, too. Bring up everything you can think of -- low back pain, hip pain, knees, whatever!

Ginger: I too have joint pain, borderline hypertension,.... I will have a sleep study this week. A little sleep apnea would qualify me for insurance coverage. If it is not approved I will pay for the surgery. Uugghh.... Hope it doesn't come to that! I am committed to having this done as I have tried for the past 15 years to get this weight under control without success. Have you had your surgery yet?

HelenaMarie83 didn't you say you were from Sacramento? I am also. My surgery is through UC Davis.

It was pretty much pre-approved, as long as I lost 15 pounds. I started this process at the end of March through Kaiser Permanente. To get in the program you need to take the info class and have your PCP refer you. Once you're "in" the program, you have orientation, then meet your surgeon and get your pre-op goal. After that it's a nutrition class and support groups. When you're within 5 pounds of your goal, you get your psych eval and start doing all your labs. At goal weight you get your surgery date and your pre and post op appointments made for the rest of the year. It's nice because you can do it at your own pace. It could be as quick or as slow as you need.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
